As a newly engaged couple or those who have been planning for a little while, I bet you’ve heard the term “first look.” As a Greenville wedding videographer, first looks have become incredibly popular over the last few years. Have you ever wondered what this is or how you could go about it? Even if you know what it is, I bet you need some ideas on how to make your first look unique. I’m here to help you decide to first look, or not first look!
What Is A First Look?
A first look is traditionally when the couple sees their significant other for the first time all dressed up for the wedding day. This is usually an intimate moment between the couple because it really makes the whole marriage and wedding thing seem very real. All the planning and stress can get in the way of enjoying the wedding. A first look can get the most important players in the special day events in the right mindset. It gets you so excited! It can be emotional or you can even make it a little silly!
Why Should I Do One?
This moment can be so innocent and beautiful. The first time your future spouse sees you walking towards them in your wedding dress is a reaction you don’t want to miss! Looking back at that moment can bring back so many feelings. You want to feel gorgeous on your wedding day and this is one way you can remember feeling that way. It’s also a way to get some good bridal photos before the day of the wedding if you chose to do a first look on a separate day. Then you don’t have to figure out time on an already busy day.
You Can Have a First Look With Anyone!
It can be a very special moment when you’re all dressed up and showing everyone your wedding day look for the first time. You can do this with your bridesmaids, parents, siblings, or anyone else! It’s so sweet when brides show their fathers their dresses for the first time. They get to see their little girl all grown up and it makes it real to them that they’re really an adult about to start their own family. Your friends are people who know you the most and they’ve been right alongside you for all the planning. It might be really fun to share this moment with them. They know how exciting this day is for you and they’re just so excited for you. Doing a first look with your bridesmaids can make for a really emotional moment.
Unique First Look Ideas
Whether your partner likes romantic, sweet moments, or they have a good sense of humor, there are some fun things you can do for your first look. There are videos out there of best men getting into a wedding dress and the fiancé turns around and just busts out in laughter! It’s a cheeky way to start off the first look and also break the tension. You can also do it at a special venue that is special to the two of you. Maybe it’s the place he proposed or the first place you guys said I love you. You can also add your best man and maid of honor into the reveal by having them be the ones shielding your eyes or guiding you while you’re blind folded) as you walk towards each other. First looks with another family member—such as your dad—can be very special as well.
