How to Keep Calm While Wedding Planning
Wedding Planning Made Easy
Your significant other has just gotten down on one knee to ask you for forever. You have already spread the news that you're engaged like a wildfire. You are SO excited! And now a few weeks have gone by and you realize what this entails… a WEDDING. It’s time to get planning. What do you do now? It can be overwhelming to figure out all the things you need to do and then what you should do first. Because I've been around the wedding scene for a while, I know some tips and tricks on how to keep calm while wedding planning. I’m here to share them with you!
First Thoughts
Wedding planning can get a little overwhelming. Sometimes you need to take a step back, look into your significant other’s eyes and remember why you’re doing this. You’re engaged to the one you love and you want the whole world to know! Don’t get swept up in the chaos and forget that this is supposed to be fun. Now if you’re not sure what you’ll need for your wedding day, there are always plenty of wedding checklists out there such as this one. You can find a list and choose the items that are the most important to you. Another thing you can do is hire someone experienced to help you out.
Get Yourself A Wedding Planner
If you’re planning on hiring a wedding planner, I would do this right off the bat after figuring out the date. Since this is your first time being engaged, it might help to have someone who has been in the wedding game for some time. It may get rid of some of the wedding planning stress. They’ll know exactly what items need to be checked off so that you can just worry about researching specific things they ask you to. They may even have connections to some of your favorite vendors!
Book Your Vendors Early
If you have some favorite vendors, you want to book them early. Schedules fill out fast and you want to make sure you have your date already set aside. It’s also important at this point to know how many guests you’ll have so you can let them know. You need this especially for caterers, cake decorators, and venues. Once that is done, it takes a huge load off. It feels like a big weight has been lifted off your shoulders because, if anything, you have somewhere to tell your guests to go, something to eat, and somewhere for them to sit.
Keep Calm While Wedding Planning by Delegating
This does not have to all fall on you! If you have a wedding planner, you’ve already delegated a little bit, so good for you! I’m sure there are others who want to help. If you haven’t included your significant other, I highly recommend doing so. They know you so trust them! Give them tasks to do that might save your sanity. I know a lot of mothers love to get involved as well. It might be hard to let go, but it will save you in the long run. You can at least give some small tasks to others such as mailing out invitations or save the dates. I promise it will help keep you calm while wedding planning.
Again, don’t get too caught up. Remember the reasons you’re planning what you are. Have fun! It’s easier said than done, but just try to enjoy the time you spend planning.
